Meet Daniel Singufuri Yohanna, North East Zonal Winner of the Young Adult Literature Prize 2025, with his work, A BOY FROM FAR NORTH.
Daniel Singufuri Yohanna is a poet and a classroom teacher. He is a Fellow of Ebedi International Writers Residency, Iseyin. His favourite author is Dr. Abubakar Othman. He is the secretary of the ANA Borno State chapter. He is the author of Heaven’s Gate and other poems, and The Trumpet. His works have appeared in magazines which include: Parousia Magazine, Fifth Chinua Achebe Poetry/Essay Anthology, The Markas, an anthology of literary works on BOKO HARAM, and others. He is a postgraduate Student at the University of Maiduguri. He writes from Borno state, Nigeria.
Daniel was a finalist in the maiden edition and only narrowly missed the Grand Prize. Now, he is winning the North East back to back.
Daniel will take home N500,000.00 for his fit, plus an additional N1,000,000.00 if he emerges the overall winner by November 1
