Announcement of Finalists for the 2024 Young Adult Literature Prize
The TY Buratai Literary Initiative is thrilled to announce the finalists for the inaugural Young Adult Literature Prize 2024. Following a rigorous evaluation of submissions from across the country, six regional winners have emerged, representing the best in young adult literature in Nigeria.
The Young Adult Literature Prize aims to foster a culture of writing, targeted at Nigerian youth and highlight the creative talents of emerging writers. The following manuscripts and writers have been selected as finalists by our judges:
South West: Truth and Dare by Olatunbosun Taofeek
North Central: Portraiture of a Dreamer by Hajarah Mohammed Bashar
North East: The Northern Boy by Daniel Singfuri Yohanna
Each the regional winners, earlier announced in September, will receive N250,000 in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Nigerian young adult literature and a certificate of achievement.
The overall winner of the Young Adult Literature Prize will be selected from among the finalists to receive the grand prize of N1,000,000, will be announced at the award ceremony scheduled for late November 2024 in Abuja.
The ceremony will celebrate literary excellence, with all regional winners in attendance to receive their awards and recognition for their literary contributions.
