Cyprian Ekwensi’s Passport of Mallam Ilia and The Drummer Boy, are two young adult literature we all read growing up.

 

It is now 65 years since those two novella’s were published.

 

To commemorate the World Read Aloud Day 2025, the TY Buratai Literary Initiative will host school children to a special session in honour of this late sage, to read and interact.

 

While the World Read Aloud Day is February 5, this event is scheduled to hold on Thursday February 6 from 10am prompt at the Adams Pages Bookstore.

 

This event will also serve as the press briefing, and official opening of the call for the 2nd edition of the Young Adult Literature Prize.
